Martin Zügel

Dr. Martin Zügel has over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare industry.

Dr. Zügel is currently a non-executive board member of Gruenenthal, a privately owned European mid-size pharma company. Previously, from 2015 to 2019, he served as CEO of Klosterfrau Zürich AG, a foundation-owned strategic holding that owns companies in the healthcare, cosmetics and consumer sectors. From 2012 to 2015 Dr. Zügel worked as a Senior Advisor to CVC Capital Partners. Prior to this, from 2005 to 2012, he served as CEO of Merz, a privately held mid-size pharma and OTC company which is a leader in the field of aesthetic medicine. From 2000 to 2005 he was an executive board member of B. Braun Melsungen AG, a global leader in the hospital supply business. Dr. Zügel began his industry career at Roche in Germany in 1990, where he held various senior positions in business development, strategy, sales and marketing. Prior to joining the pharma industry, he worked as a physician at the university hospital in Hamburg. Dr. Zügel works as an independent advisor for the healthcare industry and has held board roles at several start-up businesses.
