Roberto Marsella

Roberto Marsella is an experienced private-markets investor and strategic advisor with deep expertise in private equity, private debt, and broader private-asset allocations.  He served on the boards of listed and private companies in the U.S. and Europe.

He brings a strong track record in investment strategy execution, supported by extensive M&A and capital-markets experience across the U.S. and Europe, with a consistent focus on value creation and portfolio oversight.

Roberto was Head of Private Assets at Generali Asset Management, overseeing private equity and private debt investments and managing a portfolio exceeding €20 billion. Prior to that he was Investment Director and Head of Business Development at Fondo Strategico Italiano (now CDP Equity), where he was a member of the Investment Committee and helped build and execute the investment pipeline.

Roberto began his career in New York in M&A and corporate finance at Merrill Lynch, and later held senior investment banking roles at UBS and Deutsche Bank, spending sixteen years in the USA.

He has served on boards across energy (renewables and fossil fuels), pharmaceuticals, financial services, hospitality, food and industrial. For TowerBrook, he serves on the board of IDAK, a Swiss based European producer of specialty frozen food.

Roberto holds a business degree from Bocconi University and an MBA from NYU Stern. An active business angel for many years, he was named ‘Business Angel of the Year’ in 2023 by Club degli Investitori.
