John Lumelleau is the former President and CEO of Lockton, Inc. He retired in 2017 and now serves as an advisor to the board.

Mr Lumelleau joined the executive team at insurance broker Lockton Companies in 1997. During his tenure, Lockton grew from a $92 million business with seven offices and 700 associates to a global insurance brokerage leader with 85 offices worldwide, 6,500 Associates, and fiscal 2017 revenue of more than $1.4 billion. Mr Lumelleau was deeply involved in strengthening all facets of the business, including initiatives designed to help clients control costs while improving their businesses.

Building on Lockton’s vibrant entrepreneurial culture, Mr Lumelleau helped Lockton Companies earn numerous “Best Places to Work” honours, including Forbes’ America’s Best Employers and the Best Places to Work in Insurance award from Business Insurance magazine for eight consecutive years, the only Top 10 global insurance broker on the list. He was named to Insurance Business America’s Hot 100 list of insurance professionals with noteworthy success during 2013. Lockton ranked highest for client satisfaction in J.D. Power’s 2016 Large Commercial Insurance survey. Mr Lumelleau chaired the Vision 20/20 team, Lockton’s long-range strategic planning initiative. He charged the Vision 20/20 team with creating the strategic blueprint and identifying tactics to drive sustainable double-digit growth aligned with the needs of Lockton’s clients and its Associates.

Prior to joining Lockton, Mr Lumelleau spent more than two decades with insurance broker Alexander and Alexander. He served as National Director of Business Development before moving into global leadership positions as Managing Director of Latin American and Caribbean markets, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Global Business Development, and Executive Vice President of Global Retail Sales.
