Anthony Speranzo

Anthony Speranzo is the former President and CEO of Ascension Capital LLC, Ascension’s healthcare investment funds.

Ascension Capital formalized and expanded Ascension’s direct strategic investment initiative, building a portfolio of companies that enhance Ascension’s operations and clinical outcomes while generating capital gains to be reinvested in support of the Mission. Ascension Capital also oversaw Ascension Investment Management, which manages Ascension’s investment portfolio, and Ascension Ventures, which continues to deliver strategic insights into emerging technologies while generating anticipated financial returns.

Mr. Speranzo previously served as Executive Vice President and CFO at Ascension where he led all finance aspects of Ascension, including treasury functions, debt management, investments and mergers and acquisitions. Before that, he served as Senior Vice President and CFO of Ascension Health. Prior to joining Ascension Health in 2002, Mr. Speranzo served as Managing Director at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray (USBPJ) in Newport Beach, California. While there, he was responsible for strategic financial advisory services related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, private debt placements, valuations, and strategic market planning. His clients included hospitals, integrated health systems, medical group practices and managed care organizations nationwide. Mr. Speranzo entered investment banking in 1996 as Vice President and Manager, Corporate Finance for John Nuveen & Co., Inc. in Irvine, California. At John Nuveen, he was responsible for the development and management of the healthcare corporate finance division within the investment banking operation. Prior to 1996, Mr. Speranzo spent 11 years at the St. Joseph Health System in Orange, California, holding several positions, including Vice President, Finance and Operations and Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Speranzo has served on several hospital and corporate boards, both public and private.
