Jürgen Steinemann

Jürgen Steinemann has over 30 years’ experience in the food and agriculture industries.

Mr. Steinemann is currently Chair of the Supervisory Board of Metro, a leading international wholesale and retailing business, listed in Germany. He is also an investor in the food and agri industry via his firm JBS Holding. He serves on the Board of Directors of Barry Callebaut AG, the global leader of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, having previously served as the CEO of that business from 2009 to 2015, listed in Switzerland. Before joining Barry Callebaut, Mr. Steinemann served as a member of the Executive Board of Nutreco and as Chief Operating Officer from 2001 to 2009. Nutreco is a global leader in animal and fish nutrition. From 1999 to 2001, he served as CEO and Chair of Unilever’s former subsidiary Loders Croklaan, which was sold in 2001. Between 1990 and 1998, Mr. Steinemann was with the former Eridania Beghin-Say Group, where he held various senior positions in business-to-business marketing, sales and strategy. Mr. Steinemann began his career with Unilever in Germany in 1985. Mr. Steinemann is a member of the Board of Directors of Lonza Group, a global leader in the pharmaceutical, biotech and specialty ingredients markets headquartered and listed in Switzerland.
