Jürgen Steinemann has over 30 years’ experience in the food and agriculture industries. He is the managing director of JBS Holding, a company that focuses on investing in the food and agri industry.

Mr Steinemann is Chair of the Supervisory Board of Metro AG, a leading international wholesale business. Furthermore, he is Chair of the Supervisory Board of Big Dutchman AG, the global leader in animal housing equipment, and a member of the Board of Directors of Lonza Group, a global leader in the pharmaceutical, biotech and specialty ingredients markets headquartered and listed in Switzerland. Additionally, he serves as Chair of the Supervisory Board of Barentz, a PE-owned company. Barentz is a global life science ingredients distributor. Mr Steinemann is also Chair of the Supervisory Board of Plukon, one of the biggest players in the European poultry market, supplying chicken products and ready meals to leading European food producers. From 2009 to 2015, Mr Steinemann was CEO of Barry Callebaut, the global leader of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products. Subsequently, until the end of 2019, he served as a member of its Board of Directors. Before joining Barry Callebaut, Mr. Steinemann served as a member of the Executive Board of Nutreco and as Chief Operating Officer from 2001 to 2009. Before that, he gained experiences as CEO of a Unilever company and also held different sales / marketing functions at the former Eridania Beghin-Say Group.
